Frequently Asked Questions
What conditions can Photorejuvenation treat?
Imperfections from Sun Damage and Photo-aging, such as enlarged pores, dull complexions and other facial imperfections, ‘broken’ veins and capillaries, brown pigmentation ‘sun or liver spots’.
Rosacea: A skin ailment that leaves people red faced from dilated blood vessels and chronic flushing. For men and women IPL™ can successfully treat dilated blood vessels and redness without injuring the surrounding healthy skin, while greatly reducing the episodes of flushing with long-term effectiveness.
How is the photorejuvenation procedure performed?
A gel is applied to the area to be treated, and you will be given dark glasses to protect your eyes from the bright light. The smooth glass surface of the IPL™ hand-piece is gently applied to your skin and pulses of light are applied. You may feel a slight sting, like the snapping of a rubber band. An anaesthetic cream may be used but is seldom required. Treatment is generally administered in a series of procedures that provides excellent long-term results, minimal adverse effects and high satisfaction. Each treatment takes approximately one hour. A series of two to three treatment sessions may be necessary, depending on the individual’s condition.
Is IPL™ Treatment effective for Unwanted Hair
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL™) technology offers a gentle, non-invasive, long-lasting reduction of unwanted hair on the face, back, legs, bikini line or any other body area. A series of sessions is required depending on the area of body treated, and individual needs.
How does IPL™ Reduce Hair Permanently?
Highly controlled flashes of light are selectively absorbed by hair-filled follicles lying below the surface of the skin. The absorbed light heats the hair, which damages or destroys the re-growth potential of the follicle. All without damaging the surrounding tissue.
IPL™’s unique design offers you customized treatment according to your hair colour, texture and body location. Any hair with at least some pigment in it can be treated effectively. To date the treatment of white, grey or blonde hair has mixed, unpredictable results but IPL™ does offer an alternative to electrolysis.
